RE: An Open Forum with The Cape, Coast & Islands Community
DT: November 17, 2025
Given recent protests and a year of discontent in the community, Atlantic Public Media proposes a public forum to rebuild trust and preserve Cape and Islands community engagement in our public radio station, WCAI.
The conversation would be mediated and held at the new CAI space where GBH plans to host public forums, or any suitable location. APM would be happy to help organize, fund, and facilitate. The conversation would air on WCAI.
Neighbors listening to neighbors is at the heart of public radio and local journalism. We're professional communicators, after all, so let's communicate in order to clear the air, have a transparent exchange, and lay out positive plans. CAI supporters can hope to find renewed faith in the station, and GBH in Boston could benefit from hearing the views of the local community it serves.
Everyone will have a chance to describe their vision, what they love or want to change about CAI, and how best to keep CAI local as we move into the future.
We need this kind of gathering in order to move beyond the issues of the past year and build a working partnership supported by listeners. Public Broadcasting's current crisis is too large to ignore. We must pull together. It is not too late.
Forward,
Atlantic Public Media
