January 10 update

The following is an update sent out by the Woods Hole Community Association to its members and supporters on January 10 by association president Catherine Bumpus. We're copying the full text here.

We did it.  Thanks to the amazing generosity and support of our community, we have raised the money needed to purchase the historic Captain Davis House.

Take a moment to cheer.  To shout.  To dance.

It is stunning.

Now, some details.

The Woods Hole Community Association board, meeting in emergency session Thursday evening, voted to proceed with the purchase of the Captain Davis House with the funds raised by the community.  The closing date on the sale is next Thursday, January 16.

That’s very soon!  And that means we are asking you to fulfill your pledges and send your money as quickly as possible.  Obviously, checks need time to clear, online donations need time to process, etc…

At the bottom of this post are options for getting in your donation.  If you’re not sure what to do, just reach out.

You should know: more than 250 people have pitched in to make this possible, friends of Woods Hole with a vision for securing a historic building as a legacy for the future.  Thank you all.

We’re aware that many of you have questions about the sale, the building, and its future—please have just a little more patience.  For legal reasons, we need first to finalize the purchase of the building, before discussions move wider.

Again, thanks for the belief and the support.  It’s a win for small villages with big hearts.  More to come soon.
