Dear All:
First of all a big thanks to everyone who has written emails to the WGBH Board! Your efforts have created a strong sense of momentum and we are sure that WGBH has taken notice. Our community always stands strong!
The other evidence of our outreach is that several potential funders have stepped forward. We do not have a specific update at present but will follow up in the not-too-distance future when things solidify.
Finally, as many are aware, Susan Goldberg, WGBH Board Chair, and one other WGBH Board member have sent standard responses to some of your emails. The responses intentionally slant the story and make it seem as if the decision to sell the building was the only course of action.
Two important things to note:
1. The building is not "antique" as Susan Goldberg says and asserting so belittles the community support it has received over the years. It has been restored to excellent condition and its station components are state of the art.
2. She also says that WCAI has run at a deficit which necessitated the sale. This is questionable given that no numbers have ever been provided, prior to, or at the time of the sale. In fact, WCAI staff say they have always hit all target goals requested by WGBH. It seems odd that staff at WCAI are on record as saying they did not learn of any deficit until the sale was already in place.
My Best,
Tim Lineaweaver
